FMCSA Delays Full Implementation of CSA 2010

No, it was not an FMCSA April Fools joke. The rumored delay of full implementation of
CSA 2010 was officially announced Wednesday and widely reported yesterday.
What this means for drivers and motor carriers is this.
-Driver performance data will still be available to drivers and carriers later this month
-Carriers (with
FMCSA-issued PINS) will still be able to preview their CSA 2010 data and scores later this month.
-The public will not have access to the data and scores until November under the current timetable.
-FMCSA use of CSA 2010 data will be limited to the nine (9) pilot testing states however they will begin issuing warning letters to carriers deficient in CSA 2010 BASICS in all states in November.
CSA 2010 is here, albeit delayed slightly. Driver-Vehicle inspections occurring today will be used to send out warning letters in November. Glitches are to be expected. This is not totally unexpected with a program of this magnitude.
Crash Data, removed from
SafeStat due to challenges of its accuracy will also be hidden from the public when CSA 2010 goes live.
