Criticism on the Proposed Hours of Service Regulations
Posted on Thu, Jan 20, 2011 @ 10:35 AM
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is proposing new rules for hours of service. This is in response to criticism that was brought on in late December by the American Trucking Association (ATA). The ATA claims that the FMCSA (in applying data to back up its proposal) misapplied its own crash numbers so as to elevate driver fatigue as a cause of truck crashes.
The new regulations have created a buzz around the online trucking world. The predominant contributor is FleetOwner. They released a story on the ATA’s criticism of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), who oversees the FMCSA. FleetOwner also came out with a story highlighting the hours of service rule changes.
