Transportation Photo Contest Offers the Public a Chance to Win Money

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is now allowing the general public to enter its 8th annual Faces of Transportation photo contest. The point of the contest is to portray the trucking industry in a positive light, and now more than just those involved in this field can participate in the competition.
According to Truckinginfo, this year’s theme is Framing the Benefits of Transportation. This means you can submit pictures that feature transportation making a positive impact, as long as the photos have faces in them. In particular, you should turn in photos that fit within the following categories:
• Building the Future
• Taking a Ride
• On the Road
AASHTO has suggested a few ideas on the types of photos to submit, including:
• A unique way you have used to get to work or school
• Interesting roads or bridges you have seen while out and about
• A journey that you have taken on roads that stood out to you and even inspired you
Contest Rules and Awards
When you submit a photo, it needs to be accompanied by a caption of no more than 50 words describing what is taking place in the picture. You will have to fill out some additional paperwork, which you will be provided with when you enter the contest.
The general public can enter the contest, along with employees of state departments of transportation. However, employees of AASHTO, as well as their relatives, cannot enter.
You will have until July 31 to submit your pictures for the contest. At that point, a panel of judges will determine the winner in each category. Each winner will receive a $125 prize. If you win the best overall photo of the entire contest, you will get $500.
However, if you do not win the prize when the judges vote, you may have another chance to win. Between August 13 and 31, everyone will be able to vote online for the People’s Choice Award of this contest. If you win this award, you will receive $500. The winners of the contest will be announced on October 1.
