LoMaS® CASE STUDIES

- Duferco, a European-based company, purchased a large domestic steel operation.
- Duferco needed to retain control over logistics, minimize logistics costs and reduce staff, while providing excellent logistics performance to customers.
- Logistics requirements included multi-modal transportation management capabilities, ISO 9002 tools, and remote access to the system by many non-logisticians in remote locations.
Solution:
- ADS Logistics developed requirements analysis in conjunction with Duferco-Farrell.
- Selected and implemented appropriate LoMaS® functionality, including inventory management, rate management, dispatch, load track/trace, and automated billing (freight payment) and margin reporting systems.
- LoMaS® implemented as an ASP system.

- USX-Transtar had responsibility for providing metals logistics for a new USX company (Straightline).
- USX-Transtar was seeking a sophisticated, web-enabled software product to support complete metals logistics through the metals supply chain.
- Selected system needed to be able to integrate with existing USX systems.
- Selected system needed to be up-and-running very quickly.
Solution:
- Developed system requirements and functional specifications, as part of a customer team.
- Selected appropriate LoMaS® functionality required to solve logistics Issues and added additional capability to handle load aggregation/optimization.
- Implemented LoMaS®as an ASP service for USX-Transtar, and integrated it with other USX legacy systems supporting USX-Straightline.
Business Value:
- Provided USX-Straightline with a tool to manage the movement (shipment through processing and warehousing) of steel for a unique "virtual company" business model.
- Quick time-to-benefit, with complete installation, integration, testing and training within 90 days.
