The second benefit to the 401(k) is the company match. The company matches 50 cents on the dollar up to a 6% contribution. The company match gives a 50% return on your money before it is even invested.
Once an employee meets their first year anniversary they are eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan. Enrollments are held at the beginning of each calendar quarter (Jan, April, July, and October). Human Resources will run a list each calendar quarter that indicates who is eligible. Enrollment kits are then automatically mailed to the home address of those who are newly eligible.
For those who have a 401(k) from a previous job, you can roll that balance over to the ADS plan at anytime. You do not have to wait for a year of eligibility. A roll over directly from your previous plan to the ADS plan will keep your account sheltered from taxes. If you are interested in a rollover, please contact Human Resources.
