The following requirements apply to all drivers, Company employee and Independent Contractor, applying or qualified to drive for ADS LOGISTICS, LLC/Area Transportation.
1. All drivers must posses at least two years recent, verifiable interstate experience operating a commercial motor vehicle of the type being qualified for. One year of steel hauling (*) experience required.
2. No driver shall be hired or retained who has refused to submit, submitted a substituted or adulterated specimen or tested positive on any DOT-required alcohol or controlled substance test.
3. All drivers must possess a current, valid commercial drivers license issued by their state of residence.
4. A conviction, plea of no contest or forfeiture of bail for any of the following offenses (or lesser or reduced charges) within five years of application or while employed by/leased to the Company shall be disqualifying:
a. Driving under the influence of alcohol, licit or illicit controlled substances.
b. Refusal to submit to a test provided for by an implied consent or similar law.
c. Violation of an "open container" or similar statute.
d. Reckless homicide or involuntary manslaughter with a motor vehicle
e. Operating a motor vehicle without a valid license or permit.
f. Leaving the scene of an accident or "hit and run".
g. Participation in a speed exhibition, contest or "drag race".
h.Use of a motor vehicle in the commission of any felony.
i. Assault with a motor vehicle.
j. Reckless driving or careless endangerment.
k. Larceny of a motor vehicle or operating a motor vehicle without the consent of the owner.
l. Fleeing or eluding law enforcement.
m. Allowing or permitting an unlicensed person to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
n. Any felony involving the manufacturing or distribution of a controlled substance or possession with intent to manufacture or distribute.
o. Operating a commercial motor vehicle while under suspension or revocation.
p. Operating a commercial vehicle after having been place out of service.
5. More than three convictions within three years of application or while employed by/leased to the Company for any other motor vehicle violations.
6. A license suspension or revocation of more than sixty days for any reason within three years of application shall be disqualifying.
7. Involvement in two or more minor preventable accidents AND two or more motor vehicle violation convictions (four total) within three years of application or while employed by/leased to the Company shall be disqualifying.
8. Involvement in one major preventable accident within three years of application or while employed by/leased to the Company shall be disqualifying.
9. A conviction for any offense listed in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations at 49 CFR 383.51 (including all tables) shall be disqualifying for any applicant or driver currently employed by or leased to the Company.
10. All applicants and current drivers must meet all requirements for employment/work in the United States.
11. All applicants and current drivers must meet all requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Company which may exceed federal regulations.
12. All drivers must attend one (1) ADS driver meeting per year.
(*) Applicants with no recent experience and/or no recent flatbed/like equipment experience may, at the sole discretion of the Company, be afforded an opportunity to take a road test and/or cargo placement/securement/protection test in order to
demonstrate their proficiency. [Recent experience shall be defined as within three years of the date of application.]
QCC/QDS TRAILER EXCEPTION:
Applicants for QCC/QDS positions will be considered if they possess at least one year of recent verifiable experience with:
- Machinery on lowboy or flatbed trailers
- Containers on chassis
- Military equipment
- Grain hoppers
- Tankers or vans
CONTAINER EXCEPTION:
Applicants for container-only positions will be considered if the they possess at least one year of recent verifiable container experience.
Exceptions may only be made by the Director- Safety or President and must be in writing and placed in the drivers personnel file.
EXCEPTIONS- ALL OTHERS:
From time to time it may be reasonable to make exceptions to one or more of these requirements. Such exceptions may only be made by the Director-Safety and/or President. Any such exception shall be made in writing setting forth the reason(s) therefore and shall be retained in the drivers personal file.
