Alternative Distribution Systems, Inc. subsidiary, Roll & Hold Warehousing & Distribution breaks ground on a 102,000 square foot expansion in Eldridge, IA to provide increased warehousing capacity in addition to housing a new 80" wide,double-loop slitting and inspection line owned and operated by Flat Rock Metal Processing
Homewood, IL - Alternative Distribution Systems, Inc. broke ground today for an expansion at their Roll & Hold Warehousing & Distribution facility in Eldridge, IA. This expansion, due to open in September 2001, will more than double Roll & Hold's warehouse capacity, in addition to accommodating a co-located toll processing line owned and operated by Flat Rock Metal, Inc.
"Co-locating steel warehousing and toll processing shortens the supply chain through elimination of at least one transportation link between the mill and the metals consumer," states Kent Robbins, vice president, Roll & Hold. "Significant transportation benefits will accrue to the shipper who takes advantage of moving the largest and heaviest coils possible the maximum distance by rail, then processing the material close to the consumer. This is a huge "win" for the early adopters of this rail, warehousing and processing combination."
Roll & Hold's Eldridge facility will be the second facility in the Midwest where Roll & Hold and Flat Rock have joined forces to provide a full range of transportation, warehousing and metals processing at a single facility for high-end metals applications. The other facility is located in Indiana's International Port at Burns Harbor, IN. The Eldridge facility is ideally situated to accommodate the many appliance and farm implement manufacturers in the plain states that utilize smaller coil sizes in their manufacturing process.
Flat Rock's 80" wide, double loop slitting and inspection line, manufactured by Stamco Division of GenSystems, will handle 100,000 pound steel coils for Class-I exposed applications, and has many unique capabilities for the inspection, slitting and processing of critical exposed materials.
Roll & Hold provides warehousing and just-in-time delivery and distribution programs serving the producers and consumers of Class-I metals through its national network of purpose-designed truck and rail served facilities. Roll & Hold is a subsidiary of Alternative Distribution Systems, Inc., a provider of fully integrated services including transportation, warehousing, distribution and logistics services. www.adslogistics.com
