Homewood, IL -- ADS Logistic, LLC (ADS) a North American provider of integrated logistics services to the metals industry has entered an agreement with the RSDC of Michigan to provide a pin pallet blank handling operation in Ontario, Canada to support General Motors (GM).

The 52,000 square foot metals warehouse, located near GM’s plant in Oshawa, has been reconfigured to meet the structural and operational demands of a metals transload operation.   It is ADS’ fifth specialized transload facility and the Company’s first physical international expansion.

“This facility represents another step in the continuing evolution of ADS as an international service provider to the metals industry,” said Stephen Fraser, President and Chief Executive Officer.

ADS is under contract to the RSDC of Michigan, a 625,000 square foot steel processing center near Lansing, Michigan that produces the majority of the blanks sent to Oshawa for stamping.

“RSDC currently ships an estimated 35-loads per day to various ADS facilities for pallet transfer process and found the ADS group truly has the “whatever it takes” approach to daily business,” says Dan Combs of the RSDC of Michigan.  “Not only did ADS establish the trans-loading operations, they also coordinated the truck distribution for this operation.”

“Being favored with this business is an important complement to our company,” said Jeff McCord, general manager for ADS Logistics, Roll & Hold division.  “The knowledge, techniques, systems, teamwork – all the things we have learned from our previous blank handling work prepared us for this major new program.”

Cole Carriers Corporation of Hamilton, Ontario is ADS’ strategic partner for this business endeavor.  Cole was instrumental in obtaining and making the upgrades to the facility, and will provide the transportation services.    Cole is a leading provider in Western and Southern Ontario of “Just-in-Time” transportation and logistics services to primary steel producers, steel processing centers, automotive blankers and a variety of Tier 1-2 industrial manufacturers.   "We are delighted with this new alliance and certainly look forward to

a long term, successful relationship with these highly respected business entities" adds Jim Lawrence, president of Cole.

“ADS/AREA Transportation division regularly hauls into and out of the RSDC in support of GM.  With this new venture AREA will not be directly involved but will be available to lend its expertise and support as required,” said Tom Eatinger, vice president and general manager of ADS/AREA.  “With the shortage of drivers and trucks, AREA’s focus will remain on the domestic operations, ensuring continued excellent service to GM and the RSDC.”

ADS/Roll & Hold operates four other trans-load facilities specialized in serving the automotive blanking business located in Indianapolis and Marion, Indiana, O’Fallon, Missouri and Shreveport, Louisiana.    The O’Fallon facility operates under the name Alternative Distribution Systems, LLC.
