An RF scanner is like a batch mode scanner in that they are portable and hand held. But they are totally different in operation. Our Roll & Hold RF scanners are tied to the warehouse system via radio frequency, just like a walkie-talkie or cell phone. Usually there will be lots of RF terminals in a warehouse system, all tied to the same RF server, which is a computer that interfaces these scanners to the warehouse system.
The benefits of a warehouse tracking system that uses RF terminals is that all changes are posted on the system in real time! Additionally, there is usually no additional software that needs to be loaded onto the RF terminals. Instead you would design the server software so that the 'dumb' rf terminals will display information sent from the terminal server.
