Inventory Management and Tracking

ADS provides customers with compmlete visibility of their inventory and product flows via the internet. LoMaS®, ADS' supply chain management system, captures analyzes, and reports information necessary to manage inventory and all modes of transportation from the mill or dock, through the processors and warehouse, to the end-user. Information management tools include:

  • Anytime, anywhere, secure Web access for inventory inquiries, release, scheduling, load planning, and reporting
  • Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
  • Barcode inventory tracking
  • Railcar locationmessaging

Just-In-Time (JIT) Distribution

ADS earned its renowned JIT distribution credentials by flawlessly delivering millions of loads to the most demanding automotive, appliance, machinery, and packaging manufacturers and their supporting processors. Successful implementation of lean supply chain strategies requires use of an experienced and reliable distribution partner, which precisley describes ADS Logistics.

Management Expertise

Whether by truck, rail, ocean vessel, barge or air transportation,ADS utilizes its experience and management expertise to provide total delivered service. ADS works closely with each customer to understand their current challenges and long term goals to design the best customized supply chain solution. ADS Logistics has greater metals logisitcs expertise than any other logistics service provider in North America.

Modal Integration

The most economical supply chain may involve multiple modes of transportation. For example, a smart supply chain may use rail for the long haul and truck delivery for the last few miles instead of an all-truckrouting. Shippers and receivers who do not have their own rail capabilities can still make use of the economics of rail transport by including an ADS Logistics facility in the supply chain to tie together multiple transport modes. Rail-truck / truck-rail-truck, barge and ship loading and unloading, and other multi-modal combinations are all within the capabilities of ADS Logsitics.

Commodities Handled

ADS' facilities and material handling expertise are suitable for a wide variety of products including: steel of all types plus stainless steel and aluminum; in coils, strips, sheets, blanks or plates; bars, rods, and shapes; pipes and tubes; coil wire, flats, and structurals. ADS is the recognized leader in handling automotive blanks and transferring blanks from light transport skids to tight-tolerance press feed pin pallets. ADS' capabilities are also suitable for other heavy products such as ingots of zinc, aluminum, lead, copper, tin and nickel; refractory brick, machinery, forming dies, motors, rolls, anodes, transformers andswitchgear, mill spares, and similar items. In addition, some facilities are equipped to handle lumber and building materials. If it's heavy and needs quality warehousing and distribution, ADS can handle it!
